Les Deux Alpes is touted to be the friendliest and the most welcoming resort in all of France. In addition to the warmth of the locals and the quality of the facilities, the snowboarding is second to none. The resort is well-served by high-tech lifts and gondolas making traversing the resort a pleasure.

The Skiing & Snowboarding

Les Deux Alpes is a no-brainer for the skier or boarder who prefers pisted runs with lovely and extensive wide slopes for smooth, fun, not too challenging descents. These qualities make it ideal for beginners and intermediates.

Experts aren’t left out of the fun, particularly those who love a bit of freeriding action. In and amongst the extensive cruising runs, there is some of the best freeriding to be found in the French Alps. For a thigh burner check out the area around La Fee. Or if you really want to test your skills to the max try the Clot de Chalance area for some very complex terrain. Bellecombe is a mellower off piste environs with some nice couloir riding. And of course the extreme mecca that is La Grave is easily accessible from a base at Les Deux Alpes – good for an advanced skier travelling with a mixed pack.

In addition the full range of freestyling facilities are available and well kept with plenty of air, a sweet half pipe and a fast boarder cross area. The resort features La Toura, the biggest snow park in Europe and a must-see for any serious freestyler. This snowpark is open all year round and is accessible to boarders of all levels.

Where to Stay

Les Deux Alpes welcomes all comers and this is reflected in the type and amount of accommodation available. Try the three star Côte Brune, for a comfortable, traditional stay with good hearty food, all for very reasonable prices. Chalet Mounier offers four star luxury with in-house swimming and spa facilities. Accommodation is very apartment led, the Cortina apartments are worth a look. There are plenty of options available outside of the main resort as well for those are more budget conscious or prefer a quieter holiday.

Where to Eat

With approximately fifty restaurants in the resort eating options are wide-ranging with consistent good quality and generally reasonable prices. They do a particularly good line in fast food to satisfy every tooth. Try Bleuets bar or the Vetrata for cheap eats, or The P’tit Polyte for a more upmarket feel.

Après Shred

Les Deux Alpes is a lively resort with plenty of après options for all fun seekers. Smokey Joes is probably the number one venue in the resort – its happy hour (between 6pm and 8pm) has propelled many a boarder into après oblivion! For big time, late night clubbing try L’Avalanche or L’Opera which guarantee to keep you entertained well into the wee hours.

For those seeking a more laid back vibe, a must-visit is Pub Le Windsor, which is a charming, friendly pub where you might find yourself accidentally partying with your new found snow chums much later than you had anticipated.
